Jolene Guilliams, LMFT

It has been an honor to be in a service capacity for nearly 20 years.

I provide therapy to adults, adolescents, couples, and families.  My clients have been challenged with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, PTSD, and relationship difficulties.

My clinical experience has been diverse. I’ve worked in hospitals, high schools, and in private practice with people from different socio-economic backgrounds and religious traditions, as well as various identities (including racial, cultural, gender, and sexual orientation). As a child of immigrants, I understand the value of examining cultural influences, and integrate this into the work I co-create with clients. I am passionate about providing services that honor the diverse and unique aspects of the individual(s) and strive to be a social justice advocate.

My education has been just as varied as my work.  I obtained my Masters in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Somatic Psychotherapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, California.  I hold two Bachelors of Arts degrees in Psychology and Sociology from the University of California, Riverside. My clinical approach is informed by Formative Psychology ® principles and I have studied and continue to consult with Peter Wright, LMFT, a long-time student of Stanley Keleman, the founder of Formative Psychology® . I am also trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My work is deeply informed by my learnings of Somatic Abolitionism, as taught by Resmaa Menakem, in understanding how the larger societal and historical context in which we live is alive in our bodies….and how to THRIVE and access joy in these times.

Prior to my work as therapist, I was a body worker for over a decade, specializing in Shiatsu and Acupressure.

I am a mother, wife, daughter, dancer, lover of music, and gardens.
